August birthstone is the lovely Peridot, with its fresh and rich yellow green. This gem is one of my favourite colours to celebrate the start of the spring season. I do like to look up the history and lore and metaphysical attributes of the stones i use, so here are some of them you might enjoy...

It is said to be an overall balancer and tonic for the body and mind, helping to increase intuitive awareness, reducing stress and stimulating the mind, guiding your personal growth and helping to open new doors of opportunities. Best of all it is symbolic of peace and luck. It is one of the oldest stones, mined as early as 1500BC near Aswan and then brought to Europe in the Middle Ages. It was believed to contain the power of the Sun and might just radiate the Sun’s energy to guide you along.
